““The reward isn’t just the money. It’s like with life. The purpose of life isn’t breathing. I feel purpose and meaning in life when I helped someone and did it with my intellect. To see joy and satisfaction is the reward for me – like applause for an artist.““
– Matthias Kerschhaggl
This month, September 2023, we count eleven years since Matthias Kerschhaggl, owner and CTO at EVK DI Kerschhaggl GmbH, is back in his family business. Before he dedicated his time to research as a Research Scientist at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn.
It is a good opportunity,to get to know Matthias Kerschhaggl better and to experience, what brought him back to EVK.
Matthias shares that his earliest memories are visiting his father in his room, where he worked on his projects. “It was exciting – all the things in there. I wanted to know, how things work. This “Maker” attitude was something I learned from the cradle.”
As a defining moment in his career, he describes a conversation with his father, Peter Kerschhaggl, where he realized that he does not want to do research any longer for research’s sake, but to bring solutions with high relevance. He turned to Plan B in his life – the family business – here he could create something of worth and sell it with instant feedback from the customer.
What Matthias loves about EVK is “this spirit of tackling challenges of all kinds and always finding a solution thanks to our skills and ingenuity.”
What sets the company apart from its competitors is this clear focus on the customer and comprehensive solutions. He can count on his team and he also still feels his father’s ethos at work to not leave the customer high and dry.
His greatest strength? “I am persistent. When I set my mind to something, I don’t give up.” He is a visionary and someone who leads the way. “The path can hurt, it can be full of hardship – just like mountaineering… It might be hard sometimes, but innovative ideas always take time to evolve.” But we also draw thesentypes of people who derive satisfaction from solving difficult tasks.”
It seems that he found his perfect playground with EVK DI Kerschhaggl GmbH and the team here that shares in his mindset and values:
EVK DI Kerschhaggl GmbH wants to have a positive impact on the challenges of this society, and we love to support our customers who are offering solutions.
Congratulations, Matthias Kerschhaggl, to 11 years..
We as your team really appreciate your enthusiasm and persistence. We know it’s far from easy to balance business and family, but you create a safe place for us at EVK DI Kerschhaggl GmbH where we can show up with all we are and make a difference.
